NYCjog was created as a reference tool for the people of New York who want to run with others but lack the information/motivation to get registered for local events. If there is one thing that all New Yorker’s know is that life in the big city is often fast paced and there never seems to be enough time in the day. The purpose of this site is the following:
We try to list as many races possible locally (or nearby) so you can find what your looking for. We organize races in by distance and location so you can pick and choose the right race for you.(No excuses!). Click here to see upcoming runs.
We read a lot of running books and magazines and try out many techniques from them. Some are useful…some are not. We provide our feedback and/or sum up what an article was about, giving you the information you need without watering it down with too much text.
Do you have photos from a race we can post? Send them to us (nycjog@gmail.com) and we will add you to our NYCjog gallery.
The most intimidating thing for people who are beginners is not knowing the right program for their fitness level. Or better yet, how to properly train for a specifc event. Different events require different training programs. We can help point you in the right direction to finding an easy to follow training program for you! Visit our training section.

Christina SchickBorn and raised in Manassas, Virginia, Christina grew up playing sports and saw running as punishment for poor performance – especially when her soccer coach made her join the Cross Country team! In the last several years however, running has become a way of life and she can’t imagine where she’d be without it. Christina loves inspiring others to get out there and run! Her latest goal is to run a marathon in each of the 50 states. |

Anna VitalisOriginally from Brooklyn, NY, Anna joined the Air Force in 2001 and has since lived in sunny state of Florida. Prior to joining the military, she claims the only time she ran was to “catch a just missed bus or to chase after an ice cream truck.” She believes the benefits of running far surpass many people’s initial goal of losing weight and thinks what it can do for your physical fitness and overall health is truly astonishing. According to Anna “If I can do it, anyone can!” Anna began running competitively in 2008 and has since competed in a number of races including the NYC Marathon, the Miami Marathon, and in the Ragnar Relay Series. |
