Mud Run Liberty
Saturday, August 20, 2011
Liberty State Park, NJ

Join us for the craziest, muddiest adventure and take on a 10k military-style obstacle course covered entirely in mud! Mud Run is an unforgettable event: the chance to overcome obstacles while helping create a world free of MS.

We also challenge participants to raise as much money as possible to support 400,000 families affected by MS in the United States.

All that’s required is the willingness to overcome all obstacles to help create a world free of MS.

Why We Run

Multiple sclerosis interrupts the flow of information between the brain and body and stops people from moving. We believe that moving is not just something you can or can’t do, but that moving forward represents who we are. By participating in The Original Mud Run Northeast Liberty, you are connected to the potential, the hope, and the momentum of it all. With the help of dedicated supporters like you, the National MS Society addresses the challenges of each person whose life is affected by MS and helps to move their lives forward.

To learn more about the National MS Society, please visit their website.

NYRR Sprint Triathlon
Saturday, July 23 @ 7:00 a.m.
Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens

400 meters in the Aquatic Center indoor pool
13-mile bike course in Flushing Meadows Corona Park
5K run in Flushing Meadows Corona Park

The Swim

The swim will take place in the indoor pool at the Aquatic Center located inside Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

Each athlete will seed him/herself according to 400-meter swim time. There will be designated staging areas inside the Aquatic Center according to pace. Please know your swim time and seed yourself accordingly.

Athletes will start individually, entering the pool 10 seconds apart. Each athlete will swim eight lengths of 50 meters each and “snake” (zigzag) through eight lanes. Each athlete must swim to the end of each lane. Passing is permitted at any time.

No wetsuits, fins, or buoys are permitted. Athletes must wear a designated swim cap and be body-marked. An NYRR Sprint Triathlon–issued ChampionChip with a Velcro band must be worn at all times, including in the pool.

The Bike

All USAT rules apply.

Each athlete must provide his/her bike. Road bikes and mountain bikes are allowed.

Each athlete must complete two loops of the bike course. It is the athlete’s responsibility to properly exit the course after completing the second loop.

Only helmets approved by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) may be used in USAT-sanctioned events. Helmets must be worn at all times while on the bike.

All cyclists must keep to the right-hand side of the lane. The left-hand side is for passing.

Drafting (riding too closely behind another cyclist) is not allowed. Keep at least three bike lengths between yourself and the cyclist in front. If you move into the passing lane, you must pass on the left side within 15 seconds.

Once you have been passed, you must immediately slow down to three bike lengths behind before attempting to pass again.

Blocking, by riding on the left-hand side of the lane without passing or interfering with other cyclists attempting to pass, is not allowed.

The bike course will be delineated by cones and/or posts. Please follow the final race instructions and keep the markers on your left-hand side at all times. One part of the course will have two-way bike traffic. There is also one sharp turnaround on the course.

The bike course roadway will reopen to traffic at 10:00 a.m. Any cyclist still on the course must return to the transition area.

Transition Area

Entry into the transition area is for competitors only. Bicycles not put on assigned racks corresponding to a race number will incur a two-minute penalty in accord with USAT rules.

Baggage must be left in the designated area with the bike at the bike rack.

NYRR is not responsible for lost or stolen bikes, baggage, or personal items.

Bikes must be racked by the seat.

All handlebar ends must be solidly plugged.

The helmet must be strapped on before exiting the transition area. Riding without a helmet will result in IMMEDIATE disqualification.

NO cycling is allowed in the transition area.

When leaving the transition area, competitors may not mount bikes until they reach the “MOUNT” line. Cycling past the “DISMOUNT” signs at the entrance to the transition area will result in a two-minute penalty.

After the race, bikes and equipment may be removed by competitors ONLY upon showing their race number and bike number to security. Friends and family members will not be allowed to remove bikes.

Central Park Conservancy Run for Central Park (4M)
Saturday, July 16 @ 8:00 a.m.
Central Park, New York

This four-mile run/walk is for runners of all ages and fitness levels, and is presented in partnership with the Central Park Conservancy, the non-profit organization that manages and cares for Central Park. NYRR and CPC are joining forces to make this the greenest race of 2011. All the awards, including for the kids’ races, will be earth-friendly, and CPC will plant flowers throughout the Park in honor of each race winner. Thus the race will have a lasting, healthy effect on the environment.
