Welcome to the 24th Annual Lincoln Tunnel Challenge 5K Fun Run/Walk Presented by AmeriHealth New Jersey – April 25, 2010!

Don’t miss your chance to join over 3,000 other participants as they run or walk underwater, thru the south tube of the Lincoln Tunnel! This is a unique USATF Grand Prix, certified 5K offering participants the opportunity to take part in an event to raise funds to support Special Olympics New Jersey and the New Jersey Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics!Yes, it is healthy and safe to walk or run underwater! The south tube of the Tunnel is washed and the roadway is degreased the night prior to the event. The air is actually changed every 90 seconds!
This single-day Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New Jersey event has raised significant dollars over the past 23 years through pledges collected by participants and donations from sponsors.
The success of this event has advanced the goal of Special Olympics New Jersey, to provide free year-round training and competition in 24 Olympic-type sports to more than 18,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The Lincoln Tunnel Challenge has helped to fund the creation of new programs, as well as expand existing programs.
Be a part of the fun. Join the over 3,000 participants who will run thru the south tube of the Lincoln Tunnel for Special Olympics New Jersey or support a runner or walker. Please remember: No in-line skates, heelies, skateboards, bicycles or pets are allowed in the tunnel. Children in strollers must be registered and all persons and items are subject to search and will go thru a security check.

From New York City:- Go to Tunnel and if possible merge into the right hand lane before entering the Tunnel (lane changes are not permitted once inside Tunnel).
- Upon exiting Tunnel, stay in right hand lane by the stone wall.
- Go through small tunnel (sign overhead says “Hoboken”).
- Go through 2 traffic lights (the first traffic light may be blinking).
- Make left at Exxon Station.
- Make another left at next traffic light (Dykes Lumber in front on right; Exxon station to the right of you – you are essentially making a big U-turn). You are now on Boulevard East.
- Go to second traffic light and make a right hand turn into parking lot.

Hey Vinny, how do we get there from nyc? Do we have to go to port authority and take the bus over?
Hey everyone…let me know if your going on Saturday to the Pasta Party! If you need help getting there. And where you coming from. I pretty much know everyone and can help coordinate people who are close by getting to the location for the race.

What time are we meeting in Weehawken? 8:30AM?
I would suggest getting there 7:30-8:00AM…especially if you are not going to the pasta dinner Saturday night. Plus it will also allow you time to check your bag in (if you are bringing one).

Does anyone know how the traffic getting into to hoboken and parking in hoboken is that day?

Here is some more info:
TUNNEL – Only the South tube is closed. Vehicle access both ways is still available in and out of NYC.
BUSES – COACH USA leaves NYC at 41st between 8th and 9th Ave. (at whale mural) starting 6 a.m. and will run every 15 mins. (or when full) until 8:15 a.m.. RETURN to NYC is from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Point person will be onsite in NYC for buses loading. Drop-off/pickup is the same location in Weehawken. There will be a visible sign: “Lincoln Tunnel Challenge Bus Stop”.
