2011 Lincoln Tunnel Challenge 5K (3.1 miles)All proceeds from the Lincoln Tunnel Challenge benefit Special Olympics New Jersey athletes and help foster the Special Olympics mission:
To provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Currently, there are more than 21,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities that train and compete throughout New Jersey in 24 sports, particpating in more than 160 competitive events!
Course:
Participants will run or walk a 5K (3.1 miles) certified USATF course. This is a Grand Prix 500 point USATF sanctioned event. The toll booths in Weekhawken mark both the start and finish of the race. There is a cone turnaround once participants reach the NYC side of the tunnel.
Souvenir Shirt
All registered participants will receive a shirt while supplies last. Sizes are not guaranteed.
Incentives:
Earned incentive items can be picked up at designated tent before or after participant competes.

Level 1 – Participants who raise $125 – $299:

A team is made up of individual registrations and its respective fees.
Each individual participant on a team must pay the registration fee; NOT just the team captain.
This is not a Grand Prix team competition. The Lincoln Tunnel Challenge 5K is strictly an individual Grand Prix 500 point race.
All teams will have a team captain. We will need this individual’s name, telephone number and email in case there are questions. Hi question how long will this marathon last that day?
The actual run should take about 30 minutes to complete but there is plenty to do afterwards if you stick around and hang out! If need be you could probably be out of there by 9:00am. If you wanted to stick around you could be there until noon!
